The city has two first class universities - The Universuty of Ulster and Queen's Universuty, both with world renowned research facilities.
Queen’s University
Queens is one of the top 20 Universities out of a total of more than 170 which
have been independently assessed to measure both the quality of teaching and
the excellence of research. The five faculties consist of some 38 schools and
institutes offering a wide range of courses across the pure and applied
sciences, arts and social sciences. Students from as many as 40 different
countries are drawn to study here and they join contemporaries from Northern
Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain.
University of Ulster
University of Ulster’s vision is to be a model of an outstanding regional
university with a national and international reputation for quality. The
University’s course provision is the largest in the island of Ireland covering
Arts, Business and Management, Engineering, Information Technology, Life and
Health sciences and Social sciences. The University is a major contributor to
the R&D capacity within Northern Ireland in support of local business and
industry. Its research base has strengthened and expanded rapidly in terms of
funding and quality.
