The R&D Office supports, commissions and disseminates all aspects of health & social services research including commercial and non-commercial clinical trials.  The Office is committed to helping Northern Ireland participate in the fullest range of clinical trial activity as a means of achieving health and wellbeing through research.  At a national level, the R&D Office is fully engaged with the UK Clinical Resarch Collaboration but at the same time is working to ensure Northern Ireland can build effective local clinical research networks which also embrace an all-Ireland dimension.  The Clinical Research Support Centre, funded by the R&D Office, plays an important role in providing a range of research services for HPSS R&D and is central in supporting these new clinical research networks in particular and clinical trial activity in general.
